At the American Center for Martial Arts we offer children a
variety of opportunities and benefits. ACMA student's learn to work as
individuals and as team members. These two attributes are not achievable with
any other sport. They learn to respect themselves as well as others.
They learn self-defense, mental discipline, confidence and so much more.
Karate is a sport which enhances the development of hand/eye coordination while
improving basic motor skills and concentration.
Our training program will equip your child to better cope with the ever increasing stress of our society. Initially, as a student you will receive a series of introductory lessons which contain basic Karate skills. These techniques offer the building blocks necessary to advance within the Art. A “gi” (karate uniform) is worn during training but is optional for the introductory lessons until you decide if the ACMA is the right karate school for your child. Have them wear loose fitting clothes for their first class. Since respect and tradition are part of our training, we "rei“ (bow) when entering or leaving the training area, before and after class, and after partner training.
As your child becomes more proficient in the karate techniques they've learned instructors will recognize these achievements by rewarding them with promotions (colored belts and stripes). Remember, the better the “foundation”, the better the student, so it is important to encourage your child to practice even when they are not in the dojo.
As instructors we strive to provide expert training in a fun and safe environment while helping all our student's achieve their full potential at their own pace.
